On Sunday September 15, 2013 at approximately 5:45 PM the Plymouth Police Department responded to the area of Old Mill Road in Plymouth for a report of a possible Attempted Abduction. Witnesses reported that two black males operating a white, possibly a Nissan style vehicle with Rhode Island registration plates approached 3 young children between the ages of 5 to 6 years old. Statements made as well as the actions of the suspects occupying the vehicle inferred that they were attempting to get the children to enter the vehicle. The vehicle fled the area as the children ran and notified their parents.
Plymouth Police Officers encountered this vehicle a short distance away on Cherry St. where two motorcycle officers attempted to stop the vehicle as the vehicle fled. A short time later the vehicle was located by an officer on Standish Avenue in the vicinity of Cordage Terrace resting on the sidewalk. This officer attempted to remove the operator from the vehicle, however, the vehicle again fled north bound on Standish Avenue.
As the suspect vehicle fled the area it collided with a vehicle that at the intersection of Cherry St. and Standish Ave. causing extensive front end damage to the suspect vehicle. The operator of that vehicle was uninjured.
All Plymouth town residents have been advised of this incident via a “Reverse 911 Call Out” by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, the Plymouth Public Schools will be sending home a letter concerning this incident to all student households with students when they are released from school later today.
