Plymouth, MA residents are encouraged to register for CodeRED notifications, which provide important alerts and time-sensitive messages.
Along with emergency and critical messages, the CodeRED notification system, hosted by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, can also enhance community engagement by releasing important but non-emergency information.
Registration for this notification service is customized, allowing residents to choose which alerts to sign up for and what methods they would prefer to receive them. Residents can choose several different methods including landline, cell phone, email, text message, TTY or a combination of devices. Notifications can also be specified by streets, neighborhoods or regions.
Additionally, community members and visitors can keep track of alerts in town with the CodeRED Mobile App, which notifies smartphone holders of real-time alerts in the area. Similar to the online registration, users choose which notifications they would like to receive via the app. Authorized town personnel have access to create and send messages on the go from any smartphone or tablet within seconds.
The CodeRED system provides the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department and Plymouth Office of Emergency Management, the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire town. Messages sent out from the system can include alerts about crimes or ongoing incidents, or other warnings and notifications deemed important by local public safety officials.
