On Thursday, December 7, 2023, a funeral mass will take place at Saint Peters Church on Court Street for Massachusetts State Trooper, Sergeant Gregory Furtado, a Plymouth resident, who passed away unexpectedly.
Due to the active-duty death of Sgt. Furtado, a large response is expected requiring several road closures and parking restrictions as noted below. The area of Court Street from Samoset Street to Russell Street should be avoided if possible. Traffic delays are expected.
Access to businesses in the impacted area will be limited to foot traffic only. Access to the Town Hall will be open, although increased traffic should be expected.
Parking Restrictions:
There will be No Overnight Parking in the following areas beginning at 12AM on Thursday, 12/07/23:
- Both sides of Court Street from Samoset Street to Chilton Street.
- Northbound on Court Street from Brewster Street to Chilton Street.
- Southside of Vernon Street from Allerton Street to Court Street.
- Memorial Hall Public Parking Lot
- Public Parking Lot off Lothrop Street @ Hotel 1620.
- Benny’s Plaza Parking Lot – business access only.
Parking in these areas must be avoided. Any vehicle parked in violation will be subject to a fine and towing beginning at 6AM on Thursday, 12/07/23.
Road Closures:
The following roads will close to vehicular traffic from approximately 9:30AM – 12:30PM on Thursday, 12/07/23.
- Court Street from Samoset Street to Russell Street
*All northbound traffic on Court Street will be diverted to Brewster Street and Russell Street.
*All southbound traffic on Court Street will be diverted to Samoset Street and North Park Ave.
- Court Street @ Vernon Street, Memorial Drive, Clyfton Street, and Chilton Street.
*No access to Court Street. All traffic will exit to Allerton Street or Water Street respectively.
- No westbound traffic on Brewster Street onto Court Street.
*No access to Court Street. Resident and business access on Brewster St. only.
*All traffic will exit to Water Street.
